Description

Simple recipe for making high-fiber dog kibble using chicken and oats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken breast
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cooked chicken, rolled oats, water, coconut oil, ground flaxseed, and dried parsley. Mix until a thick dough forms.
  3. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet. Press the dough down evenly to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Cut the sheet into small, bite-sized pieces (kibble size).
  6. Return the pieces to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the kibble is dry and hard.
  7. Allow the kibble to cool completely before storing.

Notes

  • Store the cooled kibble in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • For longer storage, freeze the kibble.
  • Adjust the water slightly if the mixture is too dry or too wet to form a dough.
