Description

A simple recipe for lean turkey and pumpkin jerky.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the lowest setting, around 170°F (75°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the ground turkey, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Spread the mixture thinly and evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Aim for a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  4. Bake for 4-6 hours, or until the jerky is dry and firm to the touch. The exact time will depend on your oven and the thickness of the jerky.
  5. Once baked, turn off the oven and let the jerky cool completely inside the oven with the door slightly ajar.
  6. Break or cut the jerky into desired pieces.

Notes

  • Ensure your oven can maintain a low temperature. If it runs hot, you may need to prop the door open slightly more.
  • Store the jerky in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for longer storage.
