Description

Simple recipe for making homemade, healthy gummy treats for your dog using bone broth, pumpkin, and carrot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Beef or Chicken Bone Broth
  • 1/2 cup Pumpkin Puree (plain, unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup Carrot Puree
  • 4 tablespoons Unflavored Gelatin Powder

Instructions

  1. Pour 1/2 cup of the bone broth into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the broth and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
  2. Heat the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Do not boil the mixture.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Whisk in the remaining 1 1/2 cups of bone broth, pumpkin puree, and carrot puree until fully combined and smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture into silicone molds shaped like small bones or into a shallow, parchment-lined baking dish.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until completely firm.
  6. Once set, cut the mixture into individual bone shapes if using a dish, or pop them out of the molds.
  7. Store the gummy bones in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

  • Always use plain, unsweetened pumpkin puree; avoid pie filling.
  • If you do not have carrot puree, you can substitute with an additional 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree.
  • Check with your veterinarian before introducing new foods to your dog’s diet.
