A simple recipe for making nutritious, dry dog food kibble at home using turkey and oatmeal.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup water
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup chopped carrots
- 1/4 cup chopped spinach
- 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, rolled oats, water, egg, carrots, spinach, and flaxseed meal. Mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Spread the mixture thinly and evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Aim for a thickness of about 1/4 inch.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the sheet from the oven and carefully break the mixture into small, kibble-sized pieces while it is still warm.
- Return the pieces to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the pieces are dry and hard.
- Allow the kibble to cool completely before storing.
Notes
- Store the cooled kibble in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- For longer storage, freeze the kibble for up to two months.
- Adjust vegetable amounts based on your dog’s tolerance.
