Description
Simple, oven-baked kibble recipe using chicken and sweet potato for dogs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 large sweet potato, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Steam or boil the sweet potato cubes until soft, about 10-15 minutes. Drain well.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked sweet potato, ground chicken, rolled oats, water, egg, and coconut oil.
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly until a uniform dough forms.
- Place the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Press it out evenly to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Cut the baked mixture into small, kibble-sized pieces.
- Return the pieces to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until dry and crunchy.
- Store cooled kibbles in an airtight container.
Notes
- Adjust water slightly if the mixture seems too dry or too wet to handle.
- For extra crunch, break the pieces apart immediately after the first bake before the second baking stage.
