Description

Simple recipe for making nutritious, homemade kibble bites using ground beef and lentils for your dog.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup brown or green lentils, rinsed
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the rinsed lentils in 1 cup of water according to package directions until tender. Drain any excess water.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked lentils, ground beef, egg, oat flour, ground flaxseed, and dried parsley. Mix until fully combined.
  4. Place spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Flatten each portion slightly to form small, bite-sized pieces.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bites are firm and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. Store cooled bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

  • You can substitute brown rice flour for oat flour if needed.
  • If the mixture seems too wet, add oat flour one tablespoon at a time until it holds its shape.
  • These bites can be broken into smaller pieces for small dogs.
