Description

Simple recipe for making nutritious, crunchy dog kibble at home using beef and carrots.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups shredded carrots
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, shredded carrots, whole wheat flour, rolled oats, and eggs.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands until a stiff dough forms. Add water slowly if the mixture is too dry to hold together.
  4. Roll the dough out onto a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Use a small cookie cutter or knife to cut the dough into small, bite-sized pieces suitable for your dog.
  6. Place the kibble pieces onto the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the kibbles are firm and dry to the touch.
  8. Turn off the oven and leave the kibbles inside with the door slightly ajar for another 30 minutes to dry out completely for extra crunch.
  9. Cool completely before storing.

Notes

  • Store cooled kibbles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For longer storage, freeze the kibbles for up to three months.
  • Adjust the size of the kibbles based on your dog’s size and chewing ability.
