Description
Simple recipe for making nutritious, crunchy dog kibble at home using beef and carrots.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups shredded carrots
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, shredded carrots, whole wheat flour, rolled oats, and eggs.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands until a stiff dough forms. Add water slowly if the mixture is too dry to hold together.
- Roll the dough out onto a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a small cookie cutter or knife to cut the dough into small, bite-sized pieces suitable for your dog.
- Place the kibble pieces onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the kibbles are firm and dry to the touch.
- Turn off the oven and leave the kibbles inside with the door slightly ajar for another 30 minutes to dry out completely for extra crunch.
- Cool completely before storing.
Notes
- Store cooled kibbles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- For longer storage, freeze the kibbles for up to three months.
- Adjust the size of the kibbles based on your dog’s size and chewing ability.
