Description
Simple recipe for making dry dog food kibbles using ground beef and carrots in the oven.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup grated carrots
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated carrots, whole wheat flour, egg, and water. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Place the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Press the mixture down evenly to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Cut the baked sheet into small, bite-sized kibble shapes.
- Return the cut pieces to the oven and bake for an additional 30 to 45 minutes, or until completely dry and crisp.
- Turn off the oven and leave the kibbles inside with the door slightly ajar for another hour to fully dry out.
- Store cooled kibbles in an airtight container.
Notes
- Adjust the baking time based on your oven and desired crispness.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef.
- If you want smaller kibbles, cut them before the final drying stage.
