Description
Simple recipe for making homemade, healthy bone broth gummy treats for your dog.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups beef or chicken bone broth (unseasoned, low sodium)
- 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for coating)
Instructions
- Pour 1 cup of the bone broth into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold broth and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
- Gently heat the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Do not boil the mixture.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the remaining 3 cups of cold bone broth.
- Pour the liquid mixture into silicone molds shaped like bones or small squares.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until completely firm.
- If using coconut oil, lightly grease the molds before pouring the liquid for easier removal.
- Once set, carefully remove the gummies from the molds.
- Store the gummy bones in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
Notes
- Always use broth made without onions, garlic, or excessive salt, as these ingredients are harmful to dogs.
- If the gummies are too soft, slightly increase the amount of gelatin in your next batch.
- You can freeze these treats for longer storage.
