Description

Homemade chicken jerky infused with turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice chicken breast thinly, about 1/8 inch thick.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, olive oil, turmeric, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  3. Add chicken slices to the marinade and toss to coat.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  5. Preheat your oven to 170°F (77°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Arrange chicken slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, ensuring they do not overlap.
  7. Bake for 4-6 hours, or until the jerky is dry and leathery. The time will vary depending on the thickness of your slices and your oven.
  8. Let the jerky cool completely on the baking sheets before storing.

Notes

  • For a spicier jerky, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  • Store jerky in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the refrigerator for longer storage.
