Description

Simple recipe for homemade dog treats featuring blueberries and bone broth for antioxidant support.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup beef or chicken bone broth, unsalted and unseasoned
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil, melted (optional, for mold release)

Instructions

  1. Pour 1/4 cup of the bone broth into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the broth and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  2. Gently heat the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Do not boil the mixture.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the remaining 3/4 cup of cold bone broth and the blueberries. Mash the blueberries slightly with a fork to release their juices.
  4. Pour the mixture into silicone molds (small candy or ice cube trays work well). If using, lightly brush the molds with melted coconut oil first.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 3 to 4 hours, or until completely firm.
  6. Once set, carefully remove the gummies from the molds. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Always use bone broth made without salt, onion, or garlic, as these ingredients are toxic to dogs.
  • Serve these treats in moderation as part of your dog’s regular diet.
  • If you do not have silicone molds, you can pour the mixture into a shallow, lined dish and cut it into small squares once set.
