Description
Simple recipe for homemade dog treats featuring blueberries and bone broth for antioxidant support.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup beef or chicken bone broth, unsalted and unseasoned
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil, melted (optional, for mold release)
Instructions
- Pour 1/4 cup of the bone broth into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the broth and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
- Gently heat the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Do not boil the mixture.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the remaining 3/4 cup of cold bone broth and the blueberries. Mash the blueberries slightly with a fork to release their juices.
- Pour the mixture into silicone molds (small candy or ice cube trays work well). If using, lightly brush the molds with melted coconut oil first.
- Refrigerate for at least 3 to 4 hours, or until completely firm.
- Once set, carefully remove the gummies from the molds. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Always use bone broth made without salt, onion, or garlic, as these ingredients are toxic to dogs.
- Serve these treats in moderation as part of your dog’s regular diet.
- If you do not have silicone molds, you can pour the mixture into a shallow, lined dish and cut it into small squares once set.
