Description
A simple recipe for homemade beef and blueberry training jerky for dogs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup dried blueberries
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, applesauce, dried blueberries, and chia seeds. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Spread the mixture thinly and evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Aim for a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- Bake for 2 to 3 hours, or until the jerky is dry and firm to the touch. The exact time will depend on your oven and the thickness of the jerky.
- Once baked, turn off the oven and let the jerky cool completely inside the oven with the door slightly ajar. This helps to ensure it dries out thoroughly.
- Break or cut the jerky into small, training-sized pieces.
- Store the jerky in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Notes
- Ensure the jerky is completely dry before storing to prevent mold.
- You can adjust the amount of blueberries based on your dog’s preference.
- Always supervise your dog when giving them treats.
