Description

A simple recipe for homemade beef and blueberry training jerky for dogs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup dried blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, applesauce, dried blueberries, and chia seeds. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Spread the mixture thinly and evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Aim for a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  4. Bake for 2 to 3 hours, or until the jerky is dry and firm to the touch. The exact time will depend on your oven and the thickness of the jerky.
  5. Once baked, turn off the oven and let the jerky cool completely inside the oven with the door slightly ajar. This helps to ensure it dries out thoroughly.
  6. Break or cut the jerky into small, training-sized pieces.
  7. Store the jerky in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

  • Ensure the jerky is completely dry before storing to prevent mold.
  • You can adjust the amount of blueberries based on your dog’s preference.
  • Always supervise your dog when giving them treats.
