Description

A simple recipe for making lean beef and carrot jerky at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean beef, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef and shredded carrots to the marinade. Stir to coat evenly.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  4. Preheat your oven to 170°F (77°C) or set your dehydrator to the appropriate temperature.
  5. Arrange the marinated beef and carrots in a single layer on dehydrator trays or baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  6. Dehydrate for 4-8 hours, or until the jerky is dry and leathery. The time will vary depending on your dehydrator or oven.
  7. Let the jerky cool completely before storing.

Notes

  • Ensure you slice the beef against the grain for a more tender jerky.
  • For a spicier jerky, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinade.
  • Store the jerky in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
