Simple recipe for homemade dog treats using bone broth, apple, and blueberry.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup beef or chicken bone broth
- 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
- 1/4 cup unsweetened apple puree
- 1/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Instructions
- Pour 1/4 cup of the bone broth into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold broth and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
- Gently heat the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Do not boil the mixture.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the remaining 3/4 cup of bone broth, apple puree, and blueberries.
- Pour the mixture into silicone molds suitable for small dog treats (gummy molds work well).
- Refrigerate for at least 3 to 4 hours, or until completely firm.
- Remove the gummies from the molds and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Use only plain, unsweetened apple puree without xylitol or added sugars.
- If using frozen blueberries, lightly mash them before adding them to the mixture.
- Store these treats in the refrigerator for up to one week.
