Description

Simple recipe for homemade dog treats using bone broth, apple, and blueberry.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup beef or chicken bone broth
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple puree
  • 1/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

Instructions

  1. Pour 1/4 cup of the bone broth into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold broth and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  2. Gently heat the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Do not boil the mixture.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the remaining 3/4 cup of bone broth, apple puree, and blueberries.
  4. Pour the mixture into silicone molds suitable for small dog treats (gummy molds work well).
  5. Refrigerate for at least 3 to 4 hours, or until completely firm.
  6. Remove the gummies from the molds and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Use only plain, unsweetened apple puree without xylitol or added sugars.
  • If using frozen blueberries, lightly mash them before adding them to the mixture.
  • Store these treats in the refrigerator for up to one week.
